UMBC’s Retriever Open Sunday October 9 2011
The MSWA, in conjunction with USAW, helped make a difference this year at the Retriever Open. After a mediocre turnout last season, this year’s turnout was huge and unfortunately over 200 wrestlers who didn’t pre-register had to be turned away. 100% of all the revenue from the event went to help the UMBC program and their efforts to help bring a new D1 program to MD.
USAW flew in Wynn Michelak from OTC in Colorado Springs to put on a nice clinic between age group sessions. The UMBC crew ran the event and over 300 kids had a great opportunity to work the rust out. USAW provided championship t-shirts and awards for the event at no cost to UMBC.
